That's so true, I find though that its not often only the initial learning of the lesson, but making sure it stays learned. I know of a few occasions where I wrote off something as a learning experience only to have 'de ja vue' a few months later.

What I've definitely learned though is that the more costly the lesson the greater it stick.

Adam you know thats a different outcome to the metaphor I mentioned, and to be honest a great addition, I hadn't thought of it that way.

If you pair that idea (biggest splash) with the appropriate reaction, and the 80/20 rule, you get a rather elegant - "Make the most appropriate and biggest splash possible with the least amount of effort." Or something like that.

Zane - this just brought it into perspective. The "joint" saying is similar to: jack of all trades, master of none :-) Been trying to juggle my focus too and from your awesome thoughts and the ending of this post, I am definitively going to try and focus on those that make the biggest splash!

*sigh* When will they learn. Its like the people who made the Hitler
sequence, that gave their film more air time than the channels that
broadcast it. (Not that Braveheart needs an introduction, but it gets to
stay on the airwaves a bit longer. Truly sad.)
